The development of an underground library extension and new library annex required a review of the Benchers’ border, Great Hall terrace and North Gardens.

The role was to help the Inn of Court think through the potential changes and how they should fit into the wider context of the whole of Lincoln’s Inn, including what the landscape needed to achieve for the work of the Inn and for those who visit.

The change to a terrace or border may not seem to make much impact, but as you review the options these decisions had ripple effects all over the rest of the landscape and helped to solve inherent issues in layout and movement patterns.

In solving these we reconnected the landscape as a whole and confirmed how much the quality of the landscape add value to the work of the Inn.
