The inhabited hedge proposes a pavilion that is architecture made primarily of plants. It is both garden and building. Collaborating with Eric Guibert, who was lead designer, we developed this idea to deliver this exciting proposition.
The pavilion is composed of two elements: a hedge, over which rests a surreal range of growing sculptures. A yew hedge wraps around the green, forming a dark mat background that highlights the planting in the foreground. The entrance that cuts through it is partially lined with a stone wall.
The hedge is conceived sustainably and the amount of built elements are kept to a minimum to reduce embodied and operational carbon.
